Centennial Hills Festival a Big Success
A big thanks to Manny Abeyta Senior and Manny Abeyta Junior,
Duke Sims, and John Hefty for
providing the kids of the Centennial Park with a fun afternoon.
YRC raised money for books at its Sports
Speed Cage.
The 30 foot high inflatable Homer could be seen for blocks!
Hundreds of kids wanted to try to win the Schwinn Sting Ray Chopper Bike!
This is one hot bike. Everyone had a good time trying to
win it for a small donation per pitch.
Proceeds went to the Young Readers Council for book programs.
The pitching contest was conducted by Duke and Manny, two major league ball
players
who are also directors for the Young Readers Council.
Step right up!
The radar gun measured the speed. Throw three the same
speed to be in the finals. Here Manny
Abeyta helped one child to throw the ball. Manny played for the Majors and
set pitching records at UNLV.
Duke gives pointers too!
Duke Sims, who played for the New York Yankees, helped hand
out Homer baseball cards to the kids.
Homer, the mascot of the Home Run Against Drugs program, was a hit with
everyone.
And the winner is...
The winner of the Chopper Bike threw three pitches the same speed. Congratulations.
Discover the bike everyone is talking about. It's the Rebirth of Cool. Born from the classic Schwinn Sting-Ray of the 1960s and '70s, the new Schwinn Sting-Ray is an exciting, chopper-style ride for kids. It features V-Back Drag Bars, a knees-to-the-breeze low-ride saddle, a unique wishbone kickstand and the signature Big Boa Tire -- just like a motorcycle!
The Sting-Ray takes its cues from the great American
chopper and like all quality Schwinn products, the Schwinn Sting-Ray is
guaranteed for life.
